PITTSBURGH, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- A much-improved defense yielded 226 net yards Sunday and led Cincinnati to an 18-12 win at Pittsburgh, completing a season sweep.
It was the first time since 1998 Cincinnati swept its fierce AFC North Division rival, and it occurred despite the loss of Cedric Benson, its leading rusher, who suffered a hip strain in the first half.
Shayne Graham kicked four field goals -- two in the final eight minutes.
Bernard Scott scored the game's lone touchdown on a 96-yard first-quarter kickoff return, and Carson Palmer had 178 passing yards for the Bengals (7-2), who also swept the Baltimore Ravens and lead the division after their third win in a row.
Ben Roethlisberger completed 20-of-40 passes for 174 yards in the face of relentless pressure.
Rashard Mendenhall gained only 36 yards on 13 carries, and Jeff Reed also booted four field goals for the Steelers (6-3), who had won their last eight home field contests.
