HONG KONG, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Gregory Bourdy shot 67 Sunday, his fourth round of the week of at least 3-under-par, and won the European PGA Tour's Hong Kong Open.
Bourdy had one bogey over the final two days and finished at 19-under-par 261, which was two strokes better than Rory McIlroy, who ended up at 17-under after a final round of 6-under 64.
It was the third European Tour win for Bourdy while McIlroy's strong finish allowed him to claim the top of the tour's money list heading into next week's season-ending Dubai World Championship. Bourdy's win Sunday put him into the Dubai field of 60.
Bourdy played solidly Sunday in protecting the 2-stroke lead he started the final round with. Birdies at Nos. 5-6 gave him a bigger cushion but he bogeyed No. 9. He got that back at the 10th hole and a birdie at 13 and pars the rest of the way locked up the win.
McIlroy charged close by going 5-under over Nos. 11-16, including an eagle 3 at the 13th -- but a bogey at 17 ended the threat to Bourdy.
