OAKLAND, Calif., Nov. 13 (UPI) -- Raiders' wide receiver Javon Walker wants to be released by the NFL club, the Oakland Tribune reported Friday.
The former Pro Bowl player with Green Bay has battled knee, ankle and hamstring injuries in his two seasons in Oakland and feels he has become an after-thought in the Raiders' offensive picture.
"(Releasing me) would be nice," Walker, an eight-year veteran, told the newspaper earlier this week. "It's not that I can't play. I can play. From everyone who sees me at practice, I still got it going on."
Walker has not caught a pass in Oakland's eight games this season, but thought he could resurrect his career with the Raiders.
Oakland owes him $4.6 million through the end of the 2010 season.
In his career, the former Florida State product has 267 receptions for 4,011 yards with 31 touchdowns.
