DURHAM, N.C., Nov. 13 (UPI) -- Kyle Singler led the way with 20 points Friday and eighth-ranked Duke shot 59 percent from the field in rolling past North Carolina-Greensboro 96-62.
Jon Scheyer delivered five straight points while Duke was opening a 19-6 lead and finished with 18. Brian Zoubek chipped in 14 and Lance Thomas had 12 for the Blue Devils, who are coming off a 30-win season that saw them reach the third round of the NCAA Tournament before losing to Villanova.
North Carolina-Greensboro, which won only five games in 2008-09, was led by 19 points from Ben Stywall.
Duke has opened its season with a win for 10 straight years and has defeated the Spartans in all nine of their meetings.
The Blue Devils played without freshman forward Mason Plumlee, who is out indefinitely after suffering a fractured wrist during practice earlier this week.
