TAMPA, Fla., Nov. 12 (UPI) -- Ryan Malone scored the tying goal with 14.7 seconds left in the third period Thursday and Tampa Bay produced the only shootout scores to defeat Minnesota 4-3.

Vincent Lecavalier and Steven Stamkos had goals in the shootout, giving Tampa Bay its second straight win.

The Lightning faced a 3-1 deficit heading into the third but Steve Downie brought them within one by stuffing in a rebound 9:17 into the period. Malone tied it with his 11th goal of the season, coming while Marek Zidlicky was in the penalty box for hooking.

Antero Niittymaki made 31 saves to get the win.

Minnesota had a two-game winning streak snapped. Niklas Backstrom suffered the loss while stopping 19 shots.

The Wild had won the previous three meetings with Tampa Bay.
