
NEW YORK, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- Rich Peverley and Ilya Kovalchuk had a goal and two assists each Thursday, leading the Atlanta Thrashers in a 5-3 win over the New York Rangers.
Peverley's eighth goal (power play) this season snapped a 1-1 tie at 4:02 of the second period and was followed by goals from Kovalchuk and Evander Kane before it ended.
Colby Armstrong scored his third goal just 19 seconds into the first period.
Maxim Afinogenov (empty net) also scored once, while Johan Hedberg made 33 saves on 36 shots for the Thrashers, who have won two in a row and four of six.
New York got one goal apiece from Artem Anisimov, Marian Gaborik (power play) and Brian Boyle.
Michael Del Zotto and Ales Kotalik had two assists each, and Henrik Lundqvist, a game-time decision because of a right leg injury, was beaten four times on 26 shots for the Rangers, who have lost eight of 11.
