HONG KONG, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- Udorn Duangdecha, despite two bogeys, fired an 8-under-par 62 Thursday and has the lead after one round at the European PGA Tour's Hong Kong Open.
Duangdecha had 10 birdies during the round to slip by Robert-Jan Derksen for the lead. Derksen, playing an early tee-time, finished with 7-under 63. Defending champion Wen-Tang Lin, Gregory Bourdy, David Dixon and Thongchai Jaidee were tied for third at 64.
The Hong Kong Golf Course was to the players' liking Thursday as 38 golfers are within Duangdecha's strong first-round score.
Duangdecha opened his round with a birdie at No. 10 but was back to even two holes later. He had four birdies over the other six holes of his first nine, making his turn in 32.
He posted birdies at Nos. 1-3 and beat par against Nos. 6-7, giving him 10 birdies in a 13-hole span. But he three-putted his final hole for a bogey 5 to settle at 8-under.
