LOS ANGELES, Nov. 11 (UPI) -- Former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson and a photographer were detained Wednesday after an altercation at Los Angeles International Airport, police said.

Citing a law enforcement source, the Los Angeles Times reported airport police were interviewing Tyson and the photographer Wednesday evening. The source said Tyson told investigators the photographer tried to provoke him by striking him but the photographer told authorities Tyson hit him in the face and attempted to take the film out of his camera,.

The photographer was taken to a hospital for treatment of facial injuries.

The source said Tyson and the photograph were both arrested because each wanted to press charges against the other.
