NEW YORK, Nov. 11 (UPI) -- Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins was named Wednesday as a 2009 National League Gold Glove winner, his third such honor in three straight seasons.
Rollins is the first NL shortstop to win three straight Gold Gloves since Rey Ordonez of the New York Mets from 1997-1999.
His National League-leading .990 fielding percentage included only six errors in 155 games (607 chances).
Others earning Gold Gloves were San Diego first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, Los Angeles second baseman Orlando Hudson, Washington third baseman Ryan Zimmerman, catcher Yadier Molina, teammate, pitcher Adam Wainwright, a potential candidate for the NL Cy Young Award, and outfielders Michael Bourn of Houston, Philadelphia's center fielder Shane Victorino, and the Dodgers' Matt Kemp.
Zimmerman, Wainwright, Bourn and Kemp all were first-time winners.
Wainwright and Molina comprise the first winning battery since Kenny Rogers and Ivan Rodriguez did so with Detroit in 2006.
