WASHINGTON, Nov. 11 (UPI) -- Chris Clark's goal in the 11th round of a shootout Wednesday boosted the Washington Capitals to a 5-4 victory over the New York Islanders.
Clark's game-winner on a slapshot ended the NHL's longest shootout this season and completed Washington's rally from an early two-goal deficit.
Alexander Semin scored twice and Tomas Fleischmann and Eric Fehr scored once each in regulation, while Jose Theodore and Semyon Varlamov yielded a combined four goals on 31 shots for the Capitals, who have won three in a row without high-scoring Alexander Ovechkin (upper body injury).
Mark Streit led New York with a goal and an assist.
Matt Moulson, Sean Bergenheim (unassisted) and Trent Hunter also scored, with Hunter's power-play goal and second this season creating a 4-4 tie with just over two minutes left in regulation.
Dwayne Roloson gave up four goals on 41 shots for the Islanders, who have lost three of four.
