WASHINGTON, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- U.S. men's national soccer team forward Charlie Davies was discharged from a Washington hospital Tuesday one month after a serious car crash, doctors said.
James DeBritz, the director of orthopaedic trauma at Washington Hospital Center, said in a statement Tuesday Davies faces "a long recovery" from a laundry list of serious injuries, including multiple right leg fractures, facial fractures, a broken left elbow and a lacerated bladder, the Los Angeles Times reported.
But he said Davies' "overall health, age and positive attitude should help him to have a good outcome."
"I continue to improve every day, and I look forward to getting back on my feet and attacking rehabilitation," Davies, 23, said in a statement.
Washington police are still investigating the Oct. 10 single-vehicle accident, in which Davies was not the driver. Davies' attorneys have advised him not to talk about the incident while it it is being investigated, the newspaper said.
