COL BKB: No. Carolina 88, Florida Int'l 72

CHAPEL HILL, N.C., Nov. 9 (UPI) -- Fourth-ranked North Carolina's Deon Thompson led the way with 20 points Monday and the defending national champion Tar Heels beat Florida International 88-72.

The game was part of the 2K Sports Coaches vs. Cancer Classic.

Thompson grabbed 10 rebounds and Ed Davis had 13 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks for the Tar Heels (1-0).

Marvin Roberts topped the scoring for FIU (0-1) with 18 points. Antoine Watson contributed 16 points and six assists.
