DENVER, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- First-period power-play goals by Mike Comrie, Tom Gilbert and Dustin Penner Sunday sent the Edmonton Oilers on their way to a 5-3 win over Colorado.

Ryan Potulny added a third-period goal, also on a power play, and Andrew Cogliano completed the scoring with 3:20 left in the game.

The Avalanche's Marek Svatos, T.J. Hensick and David Jones scored in the Avalanche's first loss at home this season.

Edmonton goalie Nikolai Khabibulin made 34 saves and Colorado's Craig Anderson had 27.
