VALENCIA, Spain, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Scot Andy Murray needed just 69 minutes to take down Russian Mikhail Youzhny Sunday in the championship match of the Valencia Open in Spain.
The top-seeded Murray coasted to a 6-3, 6-2 decision. It was his sixth ATP win of the year, the most on the tour in 2009.
"It is very rare for someone to win a tournament after a long break," said Murray, who had been sidelined since September with a wrist injury. "I am happy I have come back from the injury well and played better with every match. I didn't have high expectations this week, but with every round and match you get more confident. I felt good with the way I was hitting the ball."
Murray, 22, has won 14 times on the tour and is 2-0 in matches against Youzhny, who won a title in Moscow two weeks ago.
The Scot collected a first-place check for $479,445.
