PITTSBURGH, Nov. 7 (UPI) -- Freshman Dion Lewis topped the 100-yard mark Saturday for sixth time this season, helping No. 14 Pittsburgh to a 37-10 Big East win over Syracuse.
Lewis had 110 yards on 18 carries and scored a touchdown as the Panthers, 8-1 overall, stayed unbeaten in five conference games. Pitt hasn't been 8-1 on the season since 1982 when Dan Marino was the Panthers quarterback.
Current Panthers quarterback Bill Stull passed for 225 yards and a touchdown in 16-of-23 passing. Dorin Dickerson had seven receptions for 118 yards and the passing touchdown.
Syracuse (3-6, 0-4) lost despite 143 yards rushing by Delone Carter, who is the first back to run for more than 100 yards on Pitt this season.
Syracuse quarterback Greg Paulus completed 12-of-18 passes for 120 yards but he was sacked four times and intercepted twice, one of which was returned for a touchdown.
