COL FB: Virginia Tech 16, East Carolina 3

GREENVILLE, N.C., Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Tyrod Taylor ran for a touchdown and Matt Waldron kicked three field goals Thursday, carrying No. 24 Virginia Tech past the East Carolina Pirates 16-3.

Taylor, the Hokies' quarterback, scored on a 13-yard run and completed 17 passes for 137 yards in the non-conference game.

Waldron's kicks were from 31, 41 and 22 yards.

Ben Hartman booted a 24-yard field goal for the Pirates.

Virginia Tech is 6-3, East Carolina 5-4.
