NEWARK, N.J., Nov. 4 (UPI) -- New Jersey's Nicklas Bergfors scored twice on power plays Wednesday and the Devils claimed a 3-2 win over Washington, which played without star Alex Ovechkin.

Both of Bergfors' goals came in the third period. Brian Rolston recorded the other goal for New Jersey, which has won three straight games and six of seven.

Devils goalie Martin Brodeur blocked 26 shots.

Tyler Sloan and Tomas Fleischmann scored for the Caps and Semyon Varlamov made 29 saves.

Ovechkin, Washington's high-scoring left wing, is on week-to-week status with an upper body strain suffered earlier in the week.
