
WASHINGTON, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Dwayne Wade's go-ahead jumper with 24 seconds left Wednesday boosted the Miami Heat to a 93-89 win over the Washington Wizards.
Wade's bucket snapped an 89-89 tie and capped a 40-point, four-rebound, five-assist effort.
Miami had wasted a 31-17 first-period advantage and the contest was 66-66 entering the fourth period.
Quentin Richardson scored 19 with nine rebounds, Udonis Haslem 13 with seven rebounds, and Michael Beasley added 10 points and four rebounds. The Heat have won their last five games against the Wizards, including four last season.
Gilbert Arenas led Washington with 32 points and three assists.
Brendan Haywood scored 16 with 11 rebounds, Caron Butler 13 with 10 rebounds, while Andray Blatche had 10 points with seven rebounds for the Wizards, who have lost two straight and three of four.
They failed to hold a late 77-75 lead.
