Davydenko advances in Valencia Open

Davydenko takes on Soderling in forth round  at the US Open Tennis Championship in New York

VALENCIA, Spain, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Russian Nikolay Davydenko, the second-seed and seventh-ranked player in the world, scored an easy first-round victory Monday in the Valencia Open in Spain.

Davydenko needed just 61 minutes to defeat Colombian qualifier Alejandro Falla 6-2, 6-1.

Spaniard Albert Montanes took down countryman Roberto Bautista-Agut 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 and Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, also of Spain, ousted German Simon Greul 7-5, 6-2.

Czech Tomas Berdych downed Frenchman Paul-Henri Mathieu 6-3, 6-4.

Andy Murray is the event's top-seed.
