DOHA, Qatar, Nov. 1 (UPI) -- Serena Williams beat her sister Venus Williams in straight sets Sunday and won the Sony Ericsson Championships in Qatar, her 35th WTA title.
Serena , who was seeded No. 2 in the event, won 6-2, 7-6 (7-4). Venus was seeded seventh.
The victory was Serena's eighth in 11 finals matches against Venus. Overall on the tour, Serena has a 13-10 record against her sister.
Serena received a first-place check for $1.55 million.
