ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates, Nov. 1 (UPI) -- Sebastian Vettel ran a dominant race Sunday on the way to winning the inaugural Formula One Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Vettel, driving a Renault, and Red Bull teammate Mark Webber (Renault) finished 1-2 at the recently-built Yas Marina Circuit at Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Sunday's victory, Vettel's fourth this season, was aided by pole-winner Lewis Hamilton (McLaren Mercedes), the 2008 F1 champion, who bowed out for the first time in racing career after experiencing early brake failure.

"It's a perfect day to finish the season on a high," said Vettel, who with Michael Schumacher, are the only drivers from Germany to win four times in a single season.

The 2009 F1 champion, Jenson Button (Brawn GP Mercedes), finished third after making up a sizable deficit in the closing laps.

Rubens Barrichello (Brawn GP Mercedes) and Nick Heidfeld (BMW Sauber) completed the Top Five finishers.
