NHL: Phoenix 3, Anaheim 2

PHOENIX, Nov. 1 (UPI) -- Radim Vrbata scored the lone shootout goal as surprising Phoenix defeated the visiting Anaheim Ducks in an NHL duel Saturday 3-2.

Vrbata beat Jonas Hiller, the Anaheim goalie, on the backhand to begin the extra segment and Ilya Bryzgalov turned away a trio of Ducks for the win.

Robert Lang and Vernon Fiddler scored in regulation for the Coyotes, who have won three straight and seven of their last nine games overall. Bryzgalov made 32 saves.

Corey Perry and Teemu Selanne scored for the Ducks, who have dropped five of six. Hiller finished with 30 stops in defeat.
