NHL: Columbus 5, Washington 4 (OT)

WASHINGTON, Nov. 1 (UPI) -- R.J. Umberger scored early in overtime Sunday, giving the Columbus Blue Jackets a 5-4 victory over the Washington Capitals.

Umberger, who also scored in regulation, took a pass from Rick Nash and fired in the winner at 1:45 of the extra session. Both of Umberger's goals were on power plays.

Raffi Torres also scored twice, Nash had a goal and Steve Mason blocked 32 shots for the Blue Jackets.

Brooks Laich had two goals and Niklas Backstrom and Quintin Laing each scored one for the Capitals.

Washington star Alex Ovechkin left the game in the second period with an undisclosed injury.
