SONOMA, Calif., Nov. 1 (UPI) -- John Cook shot a 3-under-par 69 Sunday and won the Charles Schwab Cup Championship in Sonoma, Calif., by five strokes.

Cook's overall score in the Champions Tour event was 22-under 266.

Russ Cochran (68) was second at 271 and Jeff Sluman (68) and Brad Bryant (69) tied for third at 273. Phil Blackmar (69) finished fifth.

Cook, 52, who won $442,000, had a six-shot lead to begin the final round.

"The last part of this year, I said to myself we've had a nice year, let's cap it off ... let's finish strong, finish like a champion. We did that," Cook said.
