TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Steven Stamkos scored two power-play goals Thursday and the Tampa Bay Lightning produced the first five scores of the game to overwhelm Ottawa 5-2.

The Lightning won for the second time in three games, getting a goal and two assists from Ryan Moore. Mike Smith made 21 saves in the victory.

Smith did not allow a goal until Jarkko Ruutu tallied with 9:43 left in the contest.

Stamkos was credited with the first goal of the game when the puck caromed off his stick and hit the foot of Ottawa defenseman Filip Kuba before getting past Brian Elliott 7:20 into the opening period.

The other goal by Stamkos came at 7:09 of the third, giving Tampa Bay a 4-0 lead.

With Pascal Leclaire battling the flu, Elliott got the start and allowed all five goals on 27 shots. Smith stopped 21-of-23 shots.

Ottawa missed a chance to jump past Buffalo for the lead in the Northeast Division.
