SUNRISE, Fla., Oct. 28 (UPI) -- Nick Foligno and Jarkko Ruutu scored 38 seconds apart in the second period to break open a close game Wednesday and boost Ottawa to a 4-3 victory over Florida.
Ottawa won for the first time in three tries and the Panthers lost their fourth in a row.
The score was knotted at 2-2 when Foligno beat Tomas Vokoun with a wrist shot with 2:47 to play in the second. Ruutu then tipped in a shot by Chris Kelly.
Ottawa goaltender Pascal Leclaire, who has been battling illness, left the game after one period with the score tied 1-1. Brian Elliot came on to make 26 saves the rest of the way and earn the win.
Filip Kuba had two assists for Ottawa in his first game back since suffering a lower-body injury in the season opener Oct. 3.
Vokoun allowed all four goals on 33 shots in the eighth loss in nine games for the Panthers.
