SAN ANTONIO, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- Tony Parker scored 17 points before being shaken by a hard fall Wednesday and San Antonio breezed to a season-starting 113-96 win over New Orleans.
The Spurs jumped to an 18-point halftime lead and the Hornets were unable to make a run in the second half.
Parker hit the floor after making a layup late in the third quarter. He left the game for good after that, although he did return from the locker room to sit on the team's bench in the fourth period.
Manu Ginobili, who missed 38 games and the entire playoffs last year with ankle problems, added 16 points off the bench and rookie DeJuan Blair had 14 points and 11 rebounds.
New Orleans, which like San Antonio was ousted in the opening round of the playoffs last year, was led by Chris Paul with 26 points.
