NEW YORK, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Andre Agassi, who won eight Grand Slam titles, acknowledged in his autobiography he used crystal methamphetamine, People magazine said Tuesday.

The magazine reported on its Web site Agassi said in his book, which has yet to be published, he started using crystal meth in the late 1990s.

"I can't speak to addiction, but a lot of people would say that if you're using anything as an escape, you have a problem," Agassi said in the book, People reported.
