WASHINGTON, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Alex Ovechkin started a Washington comeback and produced two goals Tuesday, leading the Capitals to their fifth straight win -- 4-2 over Philadelphia.
The Washington winning streak comes on the heels of a four-game skid. The Capitals increased their lead in the Southeast Division to seven points.
After a scoreless first period, Scott Hartnell and Braydon Coburn delivered power-play goals to give the Flyers a 2-0 advantage with 5:31 to play in the second.
Ovechkin snapped a shot past Ray Emery with 3:51 remaining in the second and Nicklas Backstrom tied it on the power play with 1:48 left.
Washington took the lead 5:24 into the third period on a goal by Alexander Semin and Ovechkin added an empty-net score with 46 seconds to play. That ran his goal total for the season to 11. He has scored 230 goals in his five seasons with the Capitals.
Jose Theodore, seeing his first action in nine days, made 41 saves to get the win. Emery stopped 32-of-35 shots.
