Redskins Chris Cooley leaves game with injury in Washington.

ASHBURN, Va., Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Washington Redskins tight end Chris Cooley could miss the rest of the season after he suffered a broken bone in his leg in Monday's game against Philadelphia.

Cooley was injured on the first play of the second quarter of Monday night's game when his spikes appeared to catch in the turf. He has since been diagnosed as having a chip off the bottom of the tibia in his right leg.

Redskins Coach Jim Zorn said Tuesday that Cooley's injury could take eight weeks to heal and that the team would be looking to add another tight end to its roster. He said Cooley was consulting doctors about the possibility of surgery on the injury.

Cooley had two catches Monday and leads the team with 29 on the season. The 27-year-old tight end is in his sixth NFL season. He was selected to the Pro Bowl each of the last two years.

"It's going to take two or three guys to pick up the slack," Zorn said. "This is what happened when a football team gets injuries.

Washington was beaten by the Eagles 27-17 and dropped to 2-5.
