NHL: Montreal 3, New York Islanders 2 (OT)

MONTREAL, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Roman Hamrlik's goal a minute and a half into overtime Monday gave the Montreal Canadiens a 3-2 victory over the New York Islanders.

The teams alternated goals throughout the contest.

Montreal's Jaroslav Spacek opened the scoring with a goal at 13:34 of the first period. The Islanders tied it on a power-play goal by Jeff Tambellini late in the second.

Travis Moen put the Canadiens back in the lead with 7:44 left in the third and Tambellini tied it again 3 minutes later on another power play.

Jaroslav Halak stopped 29 shots for Montreal and Martin Biron had 28 saves for the Islanders.
