
TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Buffalo's Drew Stafford scored the tying goal with 16.1 seconds to play and the Sabers went on to down the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 in a shootout.
Rookie Tyler Myers tallied the game-winner in the sixth round of the shootout by faking to the left and shoving the puck past Lightning goalie Mike Smith.
Smith stopped 30 shots in the game. Vincent Lecavalier and Steven Stamkos scored the Tampa Bay goals.
Stamkos had an unassisted goal at 4:26 of the third period to give Tampa Bay the lead, but Stafford tied it in the final seconds on Stafford's goal from the right circle after the Sabers had pulled goalie Ryan Miller.
Miller made 24 saves and Smith had 30.
Mike Grier scored the other Buffalo goal to tie the score 1-1 with 45 seconds to play in the second period.
