
PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Philadelphia's Daniel Briere had two goals and an assist Saturday in the Flyers' 5-1 victory over the Florida Panthers.
Briere scored the opening goal for the host Flyers in the first period and then added a power-play goal at 5:03 of the third period to put Philadelphia ahead 4-1.
Ray Emery had 17 saves in the contest. David Booth, Arron Asham and Simon Gagne also scored for the Flyers. Asham has scored in three consecutive games.
Florida goalie Tomas Vokoun was peppered with 38 shots. David Booth scored the lone Panthers goal in the first period. He was later taken from the ice on a stretcher after being knocked unconscious on a bruising hit at center ice in the second by Flyers captain Mike Richards.
Booth was taken to a hospital for treatment while Richards, who had two assists in the game, was sent off with a five-minute major for interference and a 10-minute game misconduct penalty.
