LOS ANGELES, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Michal Handzus scored 55 seconds into overtime Thursday after Los Angeles had lost a three-goal lead in the third and the Kings beat Dallas 5-4.
Los Angeles appeared headed for an easy win before the Stars rallied and eventually tied it on James Neal's second goal of the contest with 2:46 to go in regulation.
Handzus, however, produced an unassisted goal on a slapshot to give the Kings their second straight win. Dallas has earned at least a point in eight of its 10 games this season but the Stars have suffered a league-high four overtime losses.
Anze Kopitar had a hat trick for the Kings, running his season goal total to eight. He scored the only two goals of the second period 2:28 apart, giving the Kings a 4-1 lead.
Jonathan Quick made 18 saves for the victory. Alex Auld allowed five goals on 31 shots.
