Buffalo starting QB out with concussion

Published: Oct. 23, 2009 at 9:50 PM

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y., Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Buffalo Bills quarterback Trent Edwards will not play in Sunday's game against Carolina due to the concussion he suffered last weekend, the team said.

That leaves Ryan Fitzpatrick, a four-year veteran out of Harvard who played with Cincinnati last season, as Buffalo's starter.

Edwards was injured in the second quarter against the New York Jets when he was hit in the head while being sacked by Calvin Pace and David Harris. Fitzpatrick came on to help the Bills to a 16-13 overtime victory.
