WASHINGTON, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Washington Wizards forward Antawn Jamison likely will miss up to five weeks of the 2009-10 NBA season that starts Tuesday with an ailing right shoulder.
A magnetic resonance imaging test Friday showed the subluxation (partial dislocation) the former all-star suffered Oct. 14 in a pre-season game at Cleveland needs more time to heal.
"He's really ahead of where we anticipated, but we're being really conservative right now," Coach Flip Saunders told The Washington Post in Chicago Friday.
"Right now, it's me being patient as far as going along with the plan," Jamison said.
The 6-foot-9 Jamison, one of the team's most durable players, will enter his 12th NBA season when his rehabilitation period ends.
He has averaged 19.9 points and eight rebounds in 798 NBA contests with Golden State, Dallas and Washington.
