PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Claude Giroux delivered the only shootout goal Thursday, allowing the Philadelphia Flyers to break a three-game losing streak with a 4-3 victory over Boston.
Giroux opened the third round of the shootout by putting a shot past Tuukka Rask just inside the right post.
Michael Ryder had a chance to keep things going for the Bruins, but his attempt rang off the left post.
Chris Pronger, Darroll Powe and Arron Asham all scored for the Flyers and Ray Emery made 23 saves.
Powe and Asham scored in the second period to rally the Flyers from a 2-1 deficit but Steve Begin tied it with 4:34 left in regulation. Rask made 36 saves before giving up the game-winner in the shootout.
It was the first time Philadelphia had won a home game against Boston since March 2007.
