NEW YORK, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees is the NFC's Offensive Player of the Week after throwing four touchdown passes against the New York Giants.
In his 53rd NFL game, the former Purdue star completed 23-of-30 passes for 369 yards Sunday and became the fastest signal-caller to reach the 15,000 yard plateau.
His second weekly player honor this season was the ninth in his career, the most in franchise history, and his 15 straight completions fell two shy of his own team record.
Also garnering NFC honors were Atlanta safety Thomas DeCoud (defense) and Tampa Bay wide receiver/kick returner Sammie Stroughter (special teams).
DeCoud's two interceptions with eight tackles helped the Falcons in a 21-14 win over Chicago.
Stroughter returned a kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown, averaged 47.3 yards on three returns, and added three pass interceptions in the Buccaneers' 28-21 loss to Carolina.
