FOXBOROUGH, Mass., Oct. 20 (UPI) -- Wide receiver Joey Galloway, a 14-year NFL veteran, has been released by the New England Patriots.
Galloway, 37, a first-round draft pick by the Seattle Seahawks in 1995, signed a free-agent deal with the Patriots in March, but made just seven receptions for 67 yards in three games, including two starts.
His release before Tuesday's trade deadline means he will not be subject to waivers, making him available to sign with any other NFL club.
Galloway has compiled 689 receptions for 10,777 yards and 77 touchdowns in 188 NFL games.
He has also played for Seattle, Dallas and Tampa Bay..
Also Tuesday, New England released tight end Michael Matthews and linebacker Eric Alexander.
