SOUTHAMPTON PARISH, Bermuda, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- Lucas Glover shot a 6-under 65 Tuesday to take a two-shot lead midway through the PGA Grand Slam of Golf in Bermuda.
The event brings together the year's four major championship winners -- three of whom are first-time qualifiers for this unique 36-hole tournament.
Glover's round was highlighted by a 50-foot birdie putt on the fourth hole of the Port Royal Golf Club course. He also rolled in a 30-footer at the par-5 17th for an eagle.
Glover qualified with his U.S. Open victory and since then has had three Top 10 finishes on the PGA Tour.
British Open champion Stewart Cink shot a 67 Tuesday, followed by Masters winner Angel Cabrera at 70 and PGA Championship titleholder Y.E. Yang at 71.
Both Glover and Cink were members of the recently victorious American Presidents Cup team, although neither played outstanding golf in that event.
"Stewart and I were joking," Glover said. "We both played well today and we were wondering where that was at the Presidents Cup. I didn't hole much there, so I was pretty excited to see some go in today."
