Cincinnati QB might play with broken arm

CINCINNATI, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- Tony Pike, the quarterback for the unbeaten Cincinnati Bearcats, could play this Saturday despite having surgery on his left arm Tuesday.

Pike broke his left forearm Thursday in Cincinnati's 34-17 victory over South Florida, a win that moved the Bearcats into the No. 6 position in the weekly poll of college coaches.

He has been playing with a plate and screws in his left arm that are still in place from a surgical procedure. The plate was repaired Tuesday and school officials said that even though Pike would sit out practice this week, he might be able to play against Louisville Saturday.

Sophomore Zach Collaros replaced Pike against South Florida and ran for two touchdowns. He will start against Louisville if Pike is unable to play.

Cincinnati is one of seven unbeaten teams remaining in major college football, joining Texas, Iowa, TCU, Florida, Alabama and Boise State.
