VIRGINIA WATER, England, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- Lee Westwood's first tournament title in more than two years vaulted him to the No. 5 rating in the world men's golf rankings released Monday.
Westwood claimed last week's Portugal Masters by two strokes over Francesco Molinari and was four better than Padraig Harrington. The win boosted him to the top of European Tour Race to Dubai rankings and improved his world mark from 11th to fifth. His career best world ranking is No. 4
The top of the rankings was static with Tiger Woods at No. 1 for the 228th consecutive week. Phil Mickelson is No. 2 followed by Steve Stricker and Paul Casey.
Harrington's third-place finish in Portugal boosted him one spot to No. 6 and the moves by Westwood and Harrington forced a series of players down.
Henrik Stenson and Kenny Perry each are down two spots to Nos. 7 an 8, respectively, while Jim Furyk and Sergio Garcia went down one each to ninth and 10th, respectively.
