NEW YORK, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- Devin Setoguchi scored twice during a stretch of six unanswered goals Monday and the San Jose Sharks cooled off the New York Rangers 7-2.

The Rangers had won seven straight games after a season-opening loss to Pittsburgh and opened a 2-0 lead against the Sharks.

San Jose then took over, tying the game by the end of the first period and taking a 5-2 lead after two.

Setoguchi scored back-to-back goals in the second period to run his season total to seven. Patrick Marleau also scored his seventh goal of the year by producing San Jose's last score of the game with 1:55 to play in the third.

Steve Valiquette opened in goal for the Rangers, but was removed after he was able to stop only 13-of-18 shots. He had produced a shutout in his previous start Oct. 11.

Evgeni Nabokov made 26 saves to get the win.
