FRISCO, Texas, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- The FC Dallas Texans had two goals from defenders Saturday in their 2-1 win over the Colorado Rapids.

George John scored in the fourth minute and Ugo Ihemelu staked Dallas to a 2-0 lead in the 66th minute that held up and kept the streaking Texans in the race for the MLS playoffs.

Pat Noonan scored the Rapids' only goal in the 71st minute.

Colorado is also scrambling to make the playoffs. The Rapids are in seventh place, three points ahead of Real Salt Lake City. The two sides face each other next Saturday.

Dario Sala faced just two shots on goal for Dallas and made one save. Colorado's Preston Burpo was slightly busier with three saves on five shots on goal.
