CARSON, Calif., Oct. 18 (UPI) -- Chivas USA scored the first and last goals of the game Saturday in a 2-2 tie with the San Jose Earthquakes.

Mykel Galindo opened the scoring at Home Depot Center with a goal in the seventh minute, and Justin Braun headed in the equalizer in the 68th minute for the Goats.

The draw was good enough to move Chivas USA into the lead in the MLS Western Conference by one point over Los Angeles and Houston.

The Earthquakes, who have only won loss in seven matches but are out of playoff contention, had goals from Brandon MacDonald in the 21st minute and Ryan Johnson in the 58th minute. Chris Leitch assisted on both San Jose goals.
