UNIONDALE, N.Y., Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Joe Thornton had a goal and two assists Saturday in San Jose's 4-1 victory over the New York Islanders.

Evgeni Nabokov had 31 saves for the Sharks, who had not won on Long Island since Nov. 4, 2000.

Matt Moulson scored the lone Islanders goal and Martin Biron allowed all four goals while facing 29 shots.

Moulson gave the hosts a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal at 15:12 of the first period, but San Jose came back in the second with goals by Patrick Marleau and Ryan Vesce. The Sharks tacked on two more in the third on tallies by Thornton and Devin Setoguchi.

The Islanders outshot San Jose 32-29, but managed just five shots on goal in the second period.
