CALGARY, Alberta, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Curtis Glencross started an offensive surge that knocked Roberto Luongo out of the game Friday and boosted Calgary to a 5-3 win over Vancouver.
The Flames scored the first five goals to halt a three-game losing streak. This was the first contest in Calgary's five-game homestand.
Glencross scored shorthanded and Nigel Dawes had a power-play goal to give the Flames a 2-0 lead after one period.
Calgary produced three goals in a five-minute span of the second period, sending Luongo to the bench. He gave up the five goals on 19 shots before being replaced by Andrew Raycroft. Luongo had allowed a total of four goals in winning his two previous starts.
Vancouver scored three times in the third period and got within two on Christian Ehrhoff's power-play goal with 2:17 remaining.
Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 26-of-29 shots for the victory.
