DALLAS, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Tim Thomas made 27 saves to collect his first shutout of the season Friday, bringing Boston a 3-0 victory over Dallas.

Marc Savard scored twice, putting Boston in front on the power play with 6:28 to play in the first period and then blasting a slap shot past Marty Turco midway through the second.

It is the first loss in regulation Dallas had suffered this season. The other three setbacks for the Stars all came in shootouts. Buffalo is the only team left in the NHL this season without a regulation loss.

Thomas, who won the Vezina Trophy last year as the league's leading goaltender, had won just one of his first three starts and had given up an average of four goals a contest. He sat out the last two games in favor of Tuukka Rask.

Turco stopped 26-of-29 shots.
