Tommie Harris' wife dies

WASHINGTON, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Luciano Emilio scored the only goal Saturday in D.C. United's 1-0 win over the Columbus Crew.
The victory kept United in a three-way tie with Toronto and New England for the final playoff berth in the MLS playoffs.
Emilio's goal, his 10th of the season, came 17 minutes into the contest. Emilio took a pass from Thabiso Khumalo, who sliced through the Columbus defense and delivered it perfectly. Emilio touched the ball just over goalkeeper Will Hesmer and watched it dribble across the line before the Crew could clear it.
Hesmer had one save in the match as United managed just two shots on goal. D.C. keeper Steve Cronin made six saves in the shutout.
