WASHINGTON, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Veteran Redskins' offensive tackle Chris Samuels could miss the balance of the 2009 season after suffering a neck injury, The Washington Post reported.

Samuels, 32, a six-time Pro Bowl choice and a first round pick (3rd overall) in the 2000 NFL Draft out of Alabama, suffers from stenosis, a narrowing of the spine that causes him to wear a neck brace with his playing equipment.

The 6-foot-5 inch, 314-pound Samuels suffered a "stinger" in the first quarter of last Sunday's 20-17 loss at Carolina. The Post said he will be re-evaluated Tuesday.

"I think it is concerning, because we care about his health," Coach Jim Zorn told the newspaper. "We just have to wait it out … (but) he's got an excellent attitude towards the waiting."

Against Kansas City Sunday, Samuels will be replaced by either D'Anthony Batiste or Chad Rinehart.
